Upgrading to WordPress 3
I’ll be doing an upgrade to all my personal, business and clients’ WordPress from today onwards and will be sharing my findings of bugs (if any) here.
I won’t lie and be a hypocrite – I am not a fan of upgrading softwares, seriously! But hey, someone’s gotta do it!
Today I started with one of my client’s website since it’s a fairly simple theme to build, I was confident I’ll get the least headaches from it
Lets see how it goes!
Everything seems to be working well, nothing on posts and pages are broken so far. Search is fine, my custom theme options is fine
One tiny problem with displaying the comments template though,

I started digging through my single.php. I was pretty sure the function <?php comments_template( ”, true ); ?> is still valid on WP 3 so I started googling and found this thread – before that I switched themes and realized that it only works when you have a ‘comments.php’ in the theme folder.
That’s strange isn’t it? Wouldn’t it call the system comments.php if it isn’t in the theme folder, similar to how the search form works?
Oh well, so problem solved when I placed the comments.php in my theme folder
So that’s done. One upgrade down. I’ll be working with the other sites later and will continue to update this post!
ps: I am missing the dark grey header and selected state of section menu in WP 2.9 admin
