I have a pain

Hmm. When I met the CEO of a certain kickass company with my fellow teammates, he told us it’s easy to look for an idea. Just find a pain. Whether it’s your pain, your friend’s, your colleagues’, find it and find ways to solve it. Because all pains, all those having pain would want it to go away right.. so today I wanna talk about my pain.

I love making notes, ever since school days, I make notes all the time and everytime. As I like to obverse the things around me (im very very observant and alert), anytime I come across anything that tickles my idea bank, I wanna write it down.

It could be about what i wanna eat today, what i wanna cook, could be reminder to check out a new restaurant i heard over the radio, could be a business idea, a web idea, could be a design that i like, or a melody i wanna try out on a song, could be ideas for lyrics, or color scheme, and everything else.

I also want to keep track of how much I’ve spent today, how much money left in my bank accounts…

My PC is full of .txt files where I keep all my notes, I also have a PostIt software on my desktop, on my table.. and I have notes inside my phone too in the forms of voice, video, picture or text ( i usually save my text notes in SMS drafts). Ah, I also have notes inside my Gmail (i send emails to myself haha) and occasionally, my Instant Messaging archive (yes i send notes to my own ID coz I know I can always find it later unless my hdisc crashes..:touchwood:)

So yeah, you might be asking, what’s my pain? Well!!! It’s sooo hard to keep track of all of the notes. OK, some notes are just you know stuffs I wanna do later, some are to-do list, some are just random stuff but still important.. (no no I don’t think I’m obsessive compulsive!)

Anyways, I’ve tried an organizer (don’t work for all of my notes), a ToDo List thingy and moree but it all don’t work for all my notes. I want one place I can organize my ToDo List, my ideas, stuffs I wanna do for my songs, my personal stuff, tips and tricks for various stuff, or words of advice, cool words or sentences to use in my next copywriting for Bitter-Coffee, my fictions or my songs..

You seee? That’s really a pain you know! And just like other webbie enthusiast, Yes I have bookmarks, a whole lotsa them for different2 stuff.

Let me talk a bit about tags, this is probably my third time trying to keep a blog. I hate tags, i hate adding categories coz it doesn’t work for me. Like ok, I used to use Firefox built-in bookmark feature right, and I have all sorts of Folders for different specific projects, random stuff, things, and yada yada… and they’re so hard to organize!! Because now I have just TOO MUCH of them folders and it’s such a hassle to scroll through them to find the stuff that I want. I could use the Search function but sometimes it just doesn’t work for me the way I want it to work!

OK you know I keep all kinds of idea notes right, so sometimes when I’m free I like to go through these ideas just to see what I can do about it. And sometimes the idea notes are like precise for example this one note in my phone ‘ok wanie. ape kate ko buat satu page kat bitter-coffee untuk client testimonial nanti ko leh analyze quality keje bc n stuff, plus kalau testimonial yg besbes tu boleh help convince more clients’ so yeah this kinda idea is precise right but I also have idea yang in a sentence that I want to use for my copywriting stuff like ‘When all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail’ so this, I can use for lots of things like my songs, my fiction, my copywriting, or I can use this sentence to come up with a new web app idea, right?

So that’s why pre-written tags and categories don’t work for me.

So how can I solve this problem? Who will help me solve this problem?

OK. I hate tags right, and what I would love is a system where tags are written by me the first time but then are dynamically organized later by the system.

For example, if i write my first note that says ‘When all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail – web app, song idea, nice sentence’ so the system takes up web app, song idea, and nice sentence to my tags.

And each time I write a new note, my first tags pop up in a reallly user-friendly way so I can really organize my notes into them.
And from time to time, the tag system will help me create new or improve existing tags that’s more related each time I write a new note that is related to each other. And create sub tags too!

Like for example my first tag is ‘web app idea’ and then from time to time, I add different notes to that tag that could have different technology keywords that should be a tag on its own, so the system help me sort all those stuff out.

Now when that one is solved, I’m happy. Now lets solve my second pain.

I want to be able to write or read a note/my notes EVERYWHERE and ANYTIME.

Sometimes, when I get up from sleep right, I have dreams and I usually remember them, and I can use it for a fiction idea (I like writing fics btw) or a song. Sometimes my dream can be developed into a new biz idea too! So I usually type them in my phone. When I’m traveling, I type them in my phone or doodles on tissue papers and stuff.

On my PC, I make note in .txt formats, or PostIt software..

It’s crazy!!!

So I want one place I can make notes everywhere, anywhere conveniently! How?

Someone should make a web app where I can write a note from my YM, from SMS, from my Desktop (as a widget or something) – BUT with the tags system implemented from these sources as well.

And now lets solve my third pain. OK promise, this is the last one. Sometimes I need to make edits to my notes to add relevant notes. But its hard to find that note again so I end up writing another note!

I have 5 different notes that say to do lists in my PostIt Software. I want a todo list system that forces me to either tick, untick or throw away the todo list, so I won’t have many todo lists. Just one to do list with nice categories I can update from time to time. I can sort them by date, by categories, by priorities..

Sighhh.. I’m sure someone out there is facing this pain too. It’s not that I haven’t tried solutions available like organizers and stuff, but I haven’t found anything that can solve all the pain! Haha!
